Data
- Place search — Open-Meteo geocoding, based on GeoNames, under CC BY 4.0.
- Time zones — the IANA time zone database, as your browser carries it, including the history of summer time and of local mean time.
- The offline list of places — compiled for Maantrik from public coordinates of Indian centres, world capitals and polar settlements.
Methods
- The Sun and Moon follow Jean Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms (2nd ed., 1998) — the Moon with the ELP-2000/82 series.
- The planets follow E. M. Standish, Keplerian Elements for Approximate Positions of the Major Planets (JPL Solar System Dynamics).
- The sidereal zodiac uses the Lahiri (Citrapakṣa) ayanāṃśa.
The body figure, the nāḍī field and every illustration in Maantrik were drawn for it, from code.
The texts
Maantrik is built on the classical texts — among them the Śiva Svarodaya, Śāradātilaka, Mantra-mahodadhi, Ṣaṭcakra-nirūpaṇa, Vijñāna-bhairava, Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra and Praśna-mārga. The texts belong to everyone. The editions and translations we read, with a grade for every claim, are listed in the app under Sources.
Built with
Not shipped, but thanked: Vite, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vitest, Oxlint, Node.js and Caddy.
