Maantrik shows what the traditional texts say, as faithfully as we can, and tells you how well each claim is sourced. Please read it in that spirit.
Health
The body map is a symbolic model taken from the texts — mātṛkā-nyāsa, marma, nāḍī and cakra. It is not anatomy, and the lit places are not measurements of anything happening in your body. Nothing in Maantrik diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any illness.
The breath check is your own observation, guided; it is not a medical test. If you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, epilepsy, asthma or another breathing condition, or a mental-health condition, ask your doctor before any breath practice. Stop if you feel dizzy, breathless or unwell. Never stop or change a treatment because of something in Maantrik.
Kundali, doṣa and remedies
Planet positions are computed with established astronomical methods, and the pañcāṅga with the Lahiri ayanāṃśa. The yogas and doṣas — Sāḍe-sātī, Maṅgala doṣa, Kāla-sarpa and others — and the mantras offered for them follow the rules recorded in the jyotiṣa texts. Traditions disagree, and these are traditional readings, not scientific predictions. Please do not make decisions about health, money, marriage, work or the law on the strength of them alone.
Times can differ from your local almanac by a few minutes, because methods differ. For an important event, confirm the muhūrta with your own pañcāṅga or priest.
How to read the grades
Every claim in Maantrik carries a grade, so you always know how firm the ground is:
- A
- Primary. Read directly in the text, or a published translation of it; the verse is located.
- B
- Attested. Classical doctrine reported the same way by independent sources; the verse not yet located by us.
- C
- Lineage-specific. Genuine traditional material whose details vary between sampradāyas; shown as one named recension, not as the only one.
- D
- Modern. A synthesis from the last two centuries, or one living teacher's system; labelled as such.
Sources and grades are listed in the app under Sources.
The tradition
Many mantras are traditionally received from a guru, in dīkṣā. Maantrik does not give initiation and does not replace a teacher; where your lineage teaches otherwise, follow your lineage. The texts are presented with respect. If you find an error in a mantra, a pronunciation or a source, please tell us and we will correct it.
AI readings
The thoughts in Mann are written by Google's Gemini from the reading Maantrik computed. They are generated by a machine, may be wrong or odd, and are not the voice of any tradition, teacher or of us. The verdict of the praśna rules is shown beside them, so you can tell the two apart.
Counting by listening
Maantrik counts by listening to your voice. In a noisy room, or with a very soft or very fast chant, it can miss or add a repetition. You can always correct the count by hand. Your japa is yours, whatever the counter says.
